Top seed Vishnu defeated compatriot Vijayant Malik 6-4, 6-2. He set up a clash with seventh seed from the Netherlands Peter Lucassen, who got the better of Johny Arcilla of the Philippines 6-0, 6-2.

Yuki did not have to exert himself much as his second-round American opponent Shane La Porte retired midway, complaining of illness. Yuki had won the first set 6-2 and was leading 1-0 when La Porte conceded the match.

In the quarterfinal, Yuki faces fifth seed Chris Eaton of Britain, who defeated compatriot Kyle Brassington 6-2, 6-2.

Virali-Murugesan battled past Korean qualifier Seung-Jae Lee 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (8). In another quarterfinal, Australia’s K Balakrishnan will take on Korean Jae-Won Choi. Balakrishnan tamed Indian Vivek Shokeen 6-3, 6-3 while Choi defeated sixth-seeded Rohan Gajjar 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
