The political leaders who  give long lectures on academic progress, now, have got an issue for introspection.

The school has registered 22.72 per cent result. Of the 22 students appeared for SSLC exams, only five have passed.

It is being analysed that lack of basic amenities, lack of teachers in the first two years, inexperienced faculty etc are the reasons for the low result.

Though the government high school was sanctioned in October 2007, no building has been sanctioned so far. Including benches and desks and toilets, the school does not have any necessary infrastructure. The classes are being held in the higher primary school and in tree shades. Getting students attention on text books was one of the major problems here.

The government appointed only the head teacher when it sanctioned the school but had no interest in appointing other teachers.

After two years’ wait, the school got necessary number of faculty in 2008-09.
Since the school was sanctioned in October, getting necessary students’ strength was a big head ache.

Though the school was started by gathering strength with the admission of academically average students, they could not be given proper education due to the lack of teachers. According to the academic committee of the school, the first batch of SSLC students could not achieve more since they did not get proper guidance when they were in VIII and IX standards.

The locals rue that though repeated pleas were made to the elected representatives and officials for the emergency amenities, no positive response has been received.
“Memorandums have been submitted to ministers Shobha Karandlaje (who hails from Puttur itself), Vishweshwara Hegade Kageri, MP D V Sadananda Gowda, MLA S Angara, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and many officials requesting school building and other facilities. But there has been no use so far,” said the school committee president B K Ramesh.

Manjunatha Nagar near Savanur comes under Sullia Assembly constituency, and is a neglected area. The development works of Parani-Ankathadka road connecting Manjunatha Nagar has come to a stand still.
