Team Anna's attack on Parl worse than terrorist strike: Cong

All India Congress Committee Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Shantaram Naik on Sunday said the continued attack by Anna Hazare and his team on Parliament was more dangerous than the terrorist attack on the seat of power in the past.  

Naik, who is the Congress incharge for North Karnataka, was addressing a press conference in the city.

“The Lokpal system can only inquire into cases of corruption. The law enacted by the Rajiv Gandhi government in the past has proved to be a weapon, facilitating registration of corruption cases,” he said.

The BJP, as a political party, did not allow discussion on key legislations moved by the UPA government in Parliament. It had gone against the aspirations of the Constitution. The Election Commission should, hence, withdraw the recognition given to the BJP, he said.

Behind bars for 20 yrs

“Yeddyurappa will face a jail term of at least 20 years, if the charges against him in the land scam are proved,” he predicted.

Replying to a question, Naik said mining should be allowed at suitable places only after obtaining the opinion of the environmentalists.
