Reports of a tiger on the prowl just on the outskirts of the state capital have created panic among the residents and prompted forest officials to launch a massive combing operation and issue an alarm to people.
The alarm was raised after the authorities recovered carcass of a blue bull from a forest area near Rehmankheda area, barely 17 kilometres from the state capital, on Monday.
“Though the locals had been reporting sighting pug marks of a tiger for the past three-four days, it was confirmed after recovery of the carcass,” the officials said.
The tiger may have travelled around 150 kilometres after straying from the forests in Lakhimpur-Kheri district, they said. The officials said the tiger weighed around 150 kilograms and was four -and -half- year old.
