Nayeem was seriously injured when he received two bullet injuries in abdomen and thigh, when he and his colleague constable Zakir Hussain were trying to chase and arrest the accused, Fahim at Naubad on the outskirts of the City. The accused who opened fire with his revolver on both the constables was wanted in attempt to robbery case at Shiv Nagar area.
Police sources informed that Nayeem breathed his last on Tuesday morning failing to respond to the treatment. His body will be brought to Bidar at 8 pm where his last rites will be held with full State honours.
Police personnel attached to New Town police station who had worked with constable Nayeem described him as a sincere and hard working person. He had joined the force in 1993. They expressed deep shock about the incident.
Nayeem is survived by wife and five children including three daughters and two sons.
