<p>A cloud of uncertainty hangs over the conduct of the re-examination for courses offered by Bangalore University’s (BU) Directorate of Correspondence Courses and Distance Education.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The exams held at fours centres — Bellary, Koppal, Davangere, and Bangalore College & Research Centre — in August/September 2011 were nullified after instances of mass copying. <br /><br />The university had told the centres it would conduct the re-exam only if they install Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras. The centres, however, refused to do so, citing financial constraints. <br /><br />The controversy took an ugly turn when Pramod Mutalik, the chief of Sri Rama Sene, assaulted B R Niranjan, Director of Directorate of Correspondence Courses and Distance Education, on December 16, 2011, for his refusal to conduct the re-exam. Recently, the university announced the re-exam would commence on January 16 at a centre in Bangalore only. <br /><br />However, the university has postponed the re-exam, citing a High Court directive. The dates and venue for the re-exam will be announced shortly.</p>
