JOIN USAhead of polls, Punjab Congress President Capt Amarinder Singh said the Congress government will provide atta at Rs 1 per kg to the poor, besides crop insurance for farmers against any calamity natural or otherwise, on Thursday.
Addressing a public rally in Moga on Thursday, Capt pointed out that under the proposed National Food Security Act, which was approved by the Union Cabinet and being introduced in Parliament, the poor would be able to by atta for Rs 1 per kg and said that Akali’s wheat scheme was being supported fully by the Centre .
The State Congress President also announced that unlike the existing system, where ordering girdawris (assessment of crop damage) after any such calamity was time consuming and hardly yielded any results, the farmers’ crops would now be automatically insured.
