Two killed in separate accidents

Two people, including a student, were killed in separate accidents in the City in the last two days.

Brahmesh Kumar (49), a contractor from BEML Layout, was returning home on his two-wheeler when a cement-laden lorry rammed his bike near the BDA underpass, Nayandahalli Junction, off Mysore Road. The speeding truck then hit nine cars.

A grievously injured Kumar died on the way to a hospital. The accident triggered traffic gridlock on the busy and congested stretch. The lorry driver fled the spot.  Motorists alleged that the 300-foot underpass was poorly lit and demanded streetlights inside the underpass.

Student dies
N Ganesh (16) was mowed down by a speeding car near mini golf club, Kothanur on Thursday night. Ganesh had stopped his bicycle to drop his friend Bharat at the latter’s house when the car knocked him down. Police said the car driver was under the influence of alcohol. Local people thrashed him before handing him over to police.

Girl hangs self
A girl said to be upset over reluctance of her boyfriend to marry her, hanged herself at her RT Nagar residence on Thursday night.

According to police, Savitha was in love with a software professional and her family had agreed to the alliance. However, the boy was not keen on marriage and was particular about the dowry he would get. A depressed Savitha ended her life, police added.
