Karnataka’s Varsha Sanjeev retained the girls’ Sub-junior National billiards crown in command fashion here on Saturday.

Having coasted into the final following a crushing 191-87 win over Maharashtra’s Arya Pimpale, the Sophia’s Girls’ School lass packed a punch in the hour-long title round, defeating Delhi’s Keerat Bhandal 165-116 at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana.

Delhi’s Laxman Rawat edged out defending champion Lalrina Renthlei and Himanshu Jain to claim the boys’ Junior snooker title. The trio ended their semifinal league with two wins each respectively but Rawat’s better frame average of 4 helped him steer clear of the three-way tie.

Andhra Pradesh’s Jain finished second with a frame average of 1 while Renthlei signed off with 0.
