Budget session likely from March second week

The budget session of parliament is likely to begin from the second week of March, informed sources said Monday.

The union budget for 2012-13 could be presented in the third week of March, following its postponment from the February end date in view of the state elections.

The election results would be out March 6, and the Election Commission's model code of conduct will be operational till March 9.

With Holi falling March 8, the second week of March looks suitable for MPs to pour into the capital.

The government will have to take a call on bringing up the controversial anti-corruption Lokpal bill, which could not be passed in the Rajya Sabha during the winter session last year.
The general budget will be preceded by the railway budget and the economic survey.
