The deceased is Kaushalya (24) from Somwarpet taluk in Kodagu. She was working in a garment factory at BTM extension, Bangalore. She is said to have fainted on Wednesday night. Kaushalya was suffering from respiratory disorder and hence her parents had taken her to a nursing home in Bangalore.

It is alleged that the doctors in the hospital had administered Tamiflu to Kaushalya without subjecting her to H1N1 viral test.

Despite this, Kaushalya’s condition deteriorated due to which her parents decided to take her to Kodagu and get her treated there. She was brought to district hospital on Friday morning and was kept in isolation room meant to keep swine flu patients.

Kaushalya’s body did not respond to any medication and she breathed her last at 3.15 pm.
Kaushalya’s throat swab have been sent to laboratory in Bangalore to ascertain if she was suffering from swine flu, said District Health and Family Welfare Surveillance Office Dr Sathish.
