Dakshina Kannada district Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishat strongly condemned the attack on Hindu youth during the taluk-level Hindu Samajothsava, held at Uppinangady on January 22.

Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday, Vishva Hindu Parishat Karnataka Region Vice President Prof M B Puranik said that on January 22, some anonymous people had gathered in Uppinangadi and the Samajotsava organisers had informed the police about it. Later, the mob created a fear-psychosis atmosphere and demanded to stop the Samajotsava. As many as 500 policemen including IGP (Western Range) Prathap Reddy could not do anything, he said.

“The mob attacked unarmed Hindu youth with rods, hockey sticks, bats and other kind of arms.

Hence, many Hindu people suffered injuries. We would not tolerate this kind of violence,” he warned.

“Samajothsava just discussed about the problems being faced by the Hindu community. It is shocking that police filed FIR against Senior RSS Leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat. We condemn the move taken by the police department. More than that, we condemn the behaviour of that mob which stopped the event using violence,” he said and demanded the police to withdraw the FIR filed against Hindu leaders and also to ban organisations like KFD and PFI.

Vishva Hindu Parishat District Chief Secretary Gopal Kutthar, Bajarang Dal Mangalore unit Convenor Sharan Pumpwell, District Convenor Shivanand Mendon and Co- Convenor Harish Amtadi were present at the press meet.
