Friends arrested for man's murder

Hunsur police crack case in a  short span of 15 days; 2 held

Police claim to have cracked a murder case arresting two friends of the victim on Tuesday. Another accused in the case is absconding.

The accused have been identified as Swamy son of Malle Gowda of Hemmige in Periyapatna taluk and Madhu of Herur in Kushalnagar taluk. Papanna alias Ganesh of Herur is at large.

On January 17, an unidentified body of a male was found floating in the Suvarnavati river near Old Bridge in the town.

Tracing identity

The local police led by circle inspector G S Gajendra Prasad had later succeeded in tracing the identity of the body as that of Manjunath son of Ninge Gowda in Chittenahalli in neighbouring Periyapatna taluk.

The body bore injury marks on face. Acting on the same, the investigators intensified their probe only to unravel the interesting case, that had all the ingredients of a thriller.

Manjunath who was an agriculture labour at the farm of Mallegowda in Hemmige village had an affair with the woman relative of one of the accused. 

He was often conversing with her on cellphone.

The accused who were enraged after learning about their friend’s clandestine affair, decided to get rid of him.

On January 14, the trio as planned earlier entered into a wordy duel with Manjunath at Kundanahalli circle. In a fit of rage, they attacked him with a sharp weapon thus killing him on the spot. 

Later, they had disposed off the body in the river. The weapon was disposed near Hemmige and the blood soaked shirt and trouser of the victim was burnt to destroy the evidence.

IGP (Southern range) A S N Murthy and SP R Dileep have announced reward for the police team for their endeavour.

Team members who participated in the operation included Head Constables Shivakumar, Kumar and Swamy Gowda. Constables Suresh, Raju and Sanjay Kumar also too part in the operation.
