JOIN USThieves struck at a wedding hall and fled with Rs 1.99 lakh in cash in Basavanagudi police limits on Monday night.
Jagannath, manager of Bhavani Kalyan Mantap on NAT Street Road, in his complaint said that he had kept Rs 1.99 lakh in the almirah, which he had collected as advance amount from those hiring the wedding hall. On Tuesday morning, he found the doors of both the wedding hall and the almirah open and the money missing.
Worker ends life
A 35-year-old worker allegedly hanged himself to death from a tree at Tavarekere in Mico Layout police limits on Wednesday morning. Venkatesh was married to Saroja and the couple had two sons.
Police said Venkatesh was a habitual drinker and demanded money from his wife to buy liquor everyday. He quarrelled with her often and threatened to commit suicide if she did not give him money. On Wednesday morning, Venkatesh left the house after a quarrel with his wife and hanged himself from a tree at a vineyard near his house, police said.
