As many as 70 students representing six private schools in the City, including the Maharshi School for the Blind and Deccan International, enthralled the audience with their songs at the Army Public School on Wednesday.

The performance was videographed by Richard Frostick, a lead music trainer from the United Kingdom, training students who will be part of a choir and learning the original version of ‘Jai Ho,’ which will be sung at the London Olympics inaugural.

Wednesday’s programme was part of the International Voices project.

The project is a strand of the British Council’s Connecting Classroom programme that aims to create mutual and sustainable partnerships between young people in India and the UK.

International Voices is associated with UK’s Youth Music Videos programme, which believes that group singing has the power to create positive group identity and an increased sense of community.

Over the last three days, Frostick has been teaching students music based on love and joy from across the world.

But, Frostick had to learn the original version of ‘Jai Ho’from the movie ‘Slum Dog Millionaire’ from the Indian students.
