Anna in Bangalore for naturopathy care

Anna Hazare was given a rousing welcome by his supporters when he arrived in the City on Thursday for naturopathy treatment at Jindal Nature Cure Centre on Tumkur Road.

Anna, who shook the nation with his 13-day fast for the implementation of Lokpal Bill in August last year, came here with his follower Arvind Kejriwal to detoxify himself of the antibiotics that were administered to him during the three-day hunger strike in December last.

Though a press conference was not on Anna’s agenda, he finally gave the desired sound bites after journalists, who thronged the Bengaluru International Airport, followed him all the way to the nature cure centre, 40 km away.

Hazare said that the fight against corruption was not the prerogative of just Anna or Arvind Kejriwal, but the duty of every citizen of India.

‘Wipe out corruption’

“Corruption has made our lives miserable. It is leading to price rise and hindering the progress of the nation,” he said and urged his young followers to utilise the national mood to wipe out the vice.

He said: “It may take two or 10 years, but corruption has to go from this country.
Remember that by encouraging corruption you are bringing disgrace to the supreme sacrifices made by people like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, who happily chose the gallows only to make our lives beautiful.”

“My mantra to you is simple. Build a strong character, lead an unblemished life, draw strength from morals, always be ready for sacrifices and be generous,” Anna said.

Sitaram Jindal, a fan and follower of Anna Hazare, said he was helping Anna to prepare himself for his fight against the demons of democracy. “Anna’s path is the only way out to rid this country of corruption,” he said.
