A reflection of reality

After teaming up with Ramya in Siddlingu, Yogish alias ‘Loose Mada’ is all set to act with Ragini Dwivedi in Chandru’s Bangaari. Like many other films which have portrayed real-life incidents on the big screen, Bangaari too is inspired from a particular incident that took place 15 years ago.

Elaborating on the movie, debutant director Chandru says he had heard about the incident from a friend and was enamoured by it immediately.

The movie is about a boy, who ends up killing his drunkard father as he is unable to cope with the harassment. He is then sent to a foster home where he is looked after by a greedy politician. The foster parent nurtures the politician inside the protagonist.

“I have added typical cinematic elements to the film and it’s the blend of these elements that makes the script very interesting,” he adds. The director says he selected Yogish since he suited the character perfectly. “I know Ragini and Yogish have never worked together but I felt that this pair will work well with the audience. While Yogish can excel in portraying the rough shades the character demands, Ragini brings in a sophistication to the character,” says Chandru, who waited for three years for Yogish’s dates.

Apart from Ragini and Yogi, Ramesh Bhat, Satyapriya, Dandapani, Suman Shetty and Sadhu Kokila are also a part of the film. “We are planning to put up a set in Mysore where Yogi will appear in 12 looks in one song,” says Chandru.

A M Neel is the music director while Niranjan Babu has been assigned to handle the camera.

As of now, the shooting is in progress in Bangalore and the director has plans to shoot the film in Udupi, Malur, Mysore and Kasargod. “We are planning to shoot a song sequence in and around Jaipur shortly. There is a plan to put up village fair set at Malur for another song,’’ says Chandru.

As for the title Bangaari, Chandru says he came up with this name as he wanted to show that there is a goodness in every human soul. “I needed a word that emphasises this goodness and felt that Bangaari suited the film perfectly,” he sums up.
