Last Updated 03 February 2012, 18:11 IST

Former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa arrived here on Friday evening amid speculation that he will set a new deadline for the party high command to give him a “respectable position.”

The BJP leader, who has made no secret of his ambition to get back the chief minister’s post he lost about six months ago, was accompanied by his close aide Lehar Singh.

“Our leader will give a final warning to the BJP and RSS leadership that if he is not made chief minister or party president of the state unit, then the party will have to face consequences,” a close associate of the Lingayat leader said.

Sources close to him said Yeddyurappa would demand state BJP president K S Eshwarappa be made a minister in the state and party chief’s post be given to himself.

Yeddyurappa had not met any leader till late in the evening. He is expected to leave for Vaishnodevi, the pilgrim centre on Saturday.
