A group of eight unidentified persons allegedly chased an attender of a private hospital late Saturday night in Nagarbhavi area and attacked him with sticks and stones, resulting in his death.

The victim Sunil, 35, a resident of Jnanajyothi Circle, was an employee at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences. Two of his friends, Megharaj and Narasimha Murthy sustained injuries in the incident, said Jnanabharathi police.

Megharaj, 30, is a resident of Mallathalli, while Narasimha Murthy, 32, stays very close to Mallathalli. They are small time realtors at Kengunte Circle.

The accused chased Sunil after a quarrel over a petty issue and attacked him with sticks and stones.  He sustained massive head injuries and died on the spot.

“We suspect financial dispute or disputes related to real estate as the cause for the murder. The investigating officers are collecting details of the suspects and will arrest them soon,” DCP (West) S N Sidramappa said.

The victim and three of his friends have no criminal background. The police suspect involvement of the others in petty crimes, he added.
