'Drunk' MBA student crashes car into gate

In a case of alleged drunken driving, a 24-year-old MBA student, Gurudarshan, crashed his car into one of the gates of Cubbon Park on Sunday night.

There were no injuries reported. Gurudarshan, after a night out with a friend, was driving from Vittal Mallya Road to Sadashivanagar when he tried to rush through the gates of Cubbon Park.

He soon realised that the gates were closed. Gurudarshan tried to take a U-turn and rammed into the adjacent gates.

The Cubbon Park police, who came to the spot, arrested him and took him to Victoria Hospital for a alcohol test before registering a case. Gurudarshan was later released. He is said to be a resident of Sadashivanagar.

Mystery shrouds death
A 42-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances while playing a game of dice near M S Nagar Paost at Banaswadi on Sunday.

The deceased, Venkatesh, was a dailywage worker. Police said Venkatesh had a fight with one of the players over the stake money of Rs 50.

Within a few minutes of the fight, a call was made to the local police station informing about the death of Venkatesh.

There were no injury marks on the body and hence, it is yet to be ascertained whether the death of Venkatesh was a natural death or a murder. The police are waiting for the post mortem report to proceed further.
