When the whole country was mocking at the State BJP leaders for the ‘dirty picture’ episode, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said on Wednesday that the three ‘tainted’ ministers had shown how a democratic system should function by voluntarily resigning from their posts.

He said he was proud of their decision to quit. Making this statement in the Council, Gowda made an emotional plea to the members to join the ruling party in salvaging the pride of the State legislature.

“I was in Kadur when the entire episode was explained to me. At 12.30 am, after coming back from there, I tried to comprehend what exactly had happened. At 6.30 am, I got an explanation from them. At 8 am, I got their resignations.”

Treading a fine line, Gowda said the ministers, like any other MLAs, opened a message which was sent to them on their cellphones. “But, that does not mean I am defending the action of the ministers,” he said. He reiterated that the Government would not allow any black spot on the face of democracy and the legislative system.
