A 21-year-old man was murdered Thursday night after his love rival discovered he was trying to woo his woman, a mother of three children.

Naveen Kumar, a former juvenile convict, was attacked with knives and sword by some youths on Magadi Road, and left to die. However, Kumar’s relatives, who were informed by passersby about the assault, rushed him to a nearby nursing home for treatment. But doctors there advised that Kumar be shifted to KC General Hospital as he was grievously injured.

The Srirampura police, who rushed to the government hospital at Malleswaram, had a tough time answering questions from angry relatives of Kumar. After pacifying them, police shifted Kumar to Victoria Hospital.

Since Kumar had sustained severe head injuries, he was taken to Nimhans, where he died at around 11:30 pm. Police said the girl Kumar was in love with, had committed suicide earlier last year. Having found comfort in his lover’s sister, Valli, the mother of three kids, he developed feelings for her.

According to police, Valli had an affair with another man who decided to kill Kumar. Valli’s husband had parted ways with her long ago, police said. Srirampura police have registered a case and are hunting for the gang of suspects who are said to be in the age group of 18-20 years.
