A contractor has lodged a complaint against Excise Minister M P Renukacharya charging the latter with giving life threat.

Lingaraju, the complainant, told Deccan Herald that he had secured a tender called by the Karnataka Niravari Nigam for a Rs 3-crore work at Malebennur in Honnali taluk. However, things took a different turn as M P Ramesh, brother of the minister was one of the bidders, but lost out.

“I was travelling by the Shimoga-Bangalore Intercity Express train on February 7. I got a call from the landline of the minister’s office and Renukacharya himself spoke to me. He told me to withdraw the tender lest I would have to face severe consequences,” Lingaraju claimed.

He alleged that the minister had threatened him that he would chop off his legs and eliminate him. Lingaraju got down at the Yeswanthpur Railway Station and lodged a complaint with the Railway Police.
