'Bridge digital divide'

He was speaking after inaugurating the first semester students’ convention and parents’ association at the Dr T Thimmaiah  Technological University on Monday.

“Indian students have contributed largely to the growth of science and technology, which has in turn changed lifestyles in the 21st century,” he remarked. While maintaining that computers and mobiles made accessibility to information easier, he added that it had also widened the digital divide between urban and rural areas. “Apart from social and economic inequalities, efforts need to be made to remove technological inequalities between the urban and rural regions,” he suggested.

Proper guidance

Founder of the college, Dr T Thimmaiah, advised the students saying: “Just studying will not lead to progress. Real knowledge can be gained by following proper guidance.”

College vice president Venkatavardhan, police superintendent Devajyothi Rai and  principal Syed Arif were present.
