Moily's letter to notify land not reached: CM

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda clarified that he did not receive letter from Union Minister for Corporate Affairs Veerappa Moily asking to notify the already denotified 2,000 acre land for the Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ). 

Speaking to presspersons, he said “I did not receive the letter so far. I am committed towards the integrated development of Dakshina Kannada. A meeting of DK MLAs, MLCs and Mayor will be convened in a week to discuss the development of the district. I am the district-in-charge Minister as of now,” he added. 

The government will support the arecanut growers whose plantations have been affected with fruit rot disease. Financial assistance would be given in the budget. 

Speaking after inaugurating a new hall of Mangalore Press Club on Sunday, he said that the government would give Rs 25 lakh for constructing Pathrika Bhavan to those districts which do not have Pathrika Bhavan. A sum of Rs 12.5 lakh would be given to those districts which already has a Pathrika Bhavan.

DK District Working Journalists Association President B Harish Rai, Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat, Mangalore Mayor Praveen, MLAs Abhayachandra Jain, B Ramanath Rai, U T Khadar and others were present.
