Mob goes on rampage after woman's death

Angry mob burnt a police vehicle and blocked the road after the news spread about the death of a woman who the locals alleged was killed by her in-laws.

The incident happened at Kalindi area—northern part of the city.
The in-laws of Moushumi Nandi took her dead body to the crematorium without informing anybody in the locality after she was declared dead by the doctors of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital—a state-run hospital, police said.

“When we found that Bhaskar (Moushmi’s husband) and his parents, Dinabondhu and Sandhya, took the body of the deceased without informing anyone, we felt that there’s something fishy, so we forced Bhaskar to bring back the body to the locality,” said a senior resident of Kalindi.

“When they brought the body back, we found that it had been battered and the eyes were protruding, which clearly showed that she was inhumanly tortured,” the resident said. Local people of the area informed the city police about the incident.
