Arunachal's RTI activist Payi Gyadi has bagged the fourth edition of CNN-IBN Citizen Journalist Award-2012.

One of the 15 Citizen Journalists to be conferred with the coveted award, Gyadi, also the Chairman of Sango Lamte Foundation, an NGO, was chosen for the award in the ‘Citizens against Corruption’ category, official sources said here today.

An initiative of CNN-IBN, IBN7 and IBN-Lokmat in partnership with a mobile company, the current edition of ‘CJ Awards’ is to honour the anti-corruption crusaders who are fighting the anomalies of the system to create a graft-free India.

While receiving the award, an elated Gyadi said, “I always wanted to be an example for the young generation and Citizen Journalist show has given me the platform to bring to light the corruption prevailing in the entire administrative system.

"I’m sure this movement would inspire other people to come forward and help root out corruption," Gyadi from East Kameng district said. The CJ Award adheres to a 2-tier selection process.

In the first category, TV18 editorial board short-listed the nominees on the basis of their stories featured on its channels and/or on the CJ microsite.

The winners in the category ‘Citizen against Corruption’ were then selected on the basis of a voting process on the CJ microsite.

The winners in the Photo and Video category were chosen by the channel's editorial team from the hundreds of photos and videos posted by the viewers on the CJ microsite, sources added.
