A home-alone woman was found murdered at her Subramanya Layout house in Ramamurthynagar on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Badrunnisa, 55. The assailants made away with Rs 2 lakh cash, besides gold and silver ornaments, said the police.

The victim’s son, Imam, and daughter-in-law, Naseera Begaum, were away at work when the murder took place. Imam owns a chicken stall, while Begaum is a teacher in a private nursery school. The victim’s husband died two years ago, added the police.

Badrunnisa had gone to drop her grandson to school. The murder took place between 12 noon and 12.30 pm after she returned and came to light when Imam returned home along with his son. Badrunnisa was lying with her throat slit. There was no forced entry into the house nor had the assailants ransacked it. The police suspect the involvement of persons known to the family in the murder.

A few neighbours told the police they had seen two persons entering the house around noon. The police detained two persons who were moving suspiciously near the house after the murder. Blood stains were found on the clothes of the suspects. The police are interrogating them for clues. Property dispute could have resulted in the murder, the police said.
