BJP corporator in trouble

The Siddapura police on Thursday registered a case under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Byrasandra corporator Nagaraj for allegedly abusing a woman and her caste.

The woman, said to be a BJP worker and one-time associate of Nagaraj, descended on the police station with a large number of people and a few video journalists, and alleged that the corporator had been exploiting her sexually over the past few months.

Additional forces were deployed at the police station after the supporters of the corporator rushed to the spot. 

The police intervened and pacified both the groups. Nagaraj’s supporters claimed she was making false and baseless allegations to tarnish their leader’s image.

Sources in the police department said she was a BJP party worker and was close to Nagaraj. But things took a different turn after differences cropped up between the two.

“The police have registered a case and are probing the allegations,” DCP (South) Sonia Narang said. The corporator was not available for comments and his his mobile was switched off.

Deputy Mayor S Harish said he was not aware of the incident.

Suicide pact: Probe not on

The mother-son duo who survived a suicide pact at a coconut grove in Moodalapalya in the City on Tuesday are recovering at a private hospital.

“As both Gopalkrishna and his mother Parvathamma are responding well to the treatment, they shall soon be shifted to a ward,” said the police.

“We are yet to begin the probe into the suicide pact, as Gopalkrishna is still in the ICU,” the Jnanabharati police said.

Gopalkrishna poisoned his mother, sister and her two children, and later consumed poison. While Gopalkrishna and his mother survived, his sister and her two children died.

No breakthrough

Police are yet to achieve a breakthrough in the murder case of Suvarna. The home-alone woman was found dead with her throat slit in her house at Sanjeevininagar on Wednesday.
“Though a team has been constituted to probe the case, we have not been able to get any leads so far. ” said a senior police officer.

Man kills self

A worker at a screen printing press was found hanging at his house in Kaverinagar on Wednesday night.

The dead has been identified as Basavaraj (35). He is survived by his wife and two children.

Basavaraj, who had taken to drinking, frequently fought with his wife. The victim’s wife had taken her children to a doctor near her brother’s house. 

However, Basavaraj called her and asked her to return home in the evening. When she reached home, she was shocked to see her husband hanging, the police said.

Woman robbed

A school teacher, Gangadevi was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs 1.5 lakh while she was waiting for a bus at the Kempe Gowda Bus Station on Wednesday.She is a resident of Upparpet.
