<p>The Siddapura police on Thursday registered a case under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Byrasandra corporator Nagaraj for allegedly abusing a woman and her caste.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The woman, said to be a BJP worker and one-time associate of Nagaraj, descended on the police station with a large number of people and a few video journalists, and alleged that the corporator had been exploiting her sexually over the past few months.<br /><br />Additional forces were deployed at the police station after the supporters of the corporator rushed to the spot. <br /><br />The police intervened and pacified both the groups. Nagaraj’s supporters claimed she was making false and baseless allegations to tarnish their leader’s image.<br /><br />Sources in the police department said she was a BJP party worker and was close to Nagaraj. But things took a different turn after differences cropped up between the two.<br /><br />“The police have registered a case and are probing the allegations,” DCP (South) Sonia Narang said. The corporator was not available for comments and his his mobile was switched off.<br /><br />Deputy Mayor S Harish said he was not aware of the incident.<br /><br />Suicide pact: Probe not on<br /><br />The mother-son duo who survived a suicide pact at a coconut grove in Moodalapalya in the City on Tuesday are recovering at a private hospital.<br /><br />“As both Gopalkrishna and his mother Parvathamma are responding well to the treatment, they shall soon be shifted to a ward,” said the police.<br /><br />“We are yet to begin the probe into the suicide pact, as Gopalkrishna is still in the ICU,” the Jnanabharati police said.<br /><br />Gopalkrishna poisoned his mother, sister and her two children, and later consumed poison. While Gopalkrishna and his mother survived, his sister and her two children died.<br /><br />No breakthrough<br /><br />Police are yet to achieve a breakthrough in the murder case of Suvarna. The home-alone woman was found dead with her throat slit in her house at Sanjeevininagar on Wednesday.<br />“Though a team has been constituted to probe the case, we have not been able to get any leads so far. ” said a senior police officer.<br /><br />Man kills self<br /><br />A worker at a screen printing press was found hanging at his house in Kaverinagar on Wednesday night.<br /><br />The dead has been identified as Basavaraj (35). He is survived by his wife and two children.<br /><br />Basavaraj, who had taken to drinking, frequently fought with his wife. The victim’s wife had taken her children to a doctor near her brother’s house. <br /><br />However, Basavaraj called her and asked her to return home in the evening. When she reached home, she was shocked to see her husband hanging, the police said.<br /><br />Woman robbed<br /><br />A school teacher, Gangadevi was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs 1.5 lakh while she was waiting for a bus at the Kempe Gowda Bus Station on Wednesday.She is a resident of Upparpet. <br /></p>
