<p>In order to address various teacher and students related issues, Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) joined hands with the varisty's students’ unions on Tuesday to start a joint campaign.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Members from students’ union of colleges and DU's student union (DUSU) held a meet where the students raised several concerns related to sports and extra curricular activities apart from the discrepancies in the semester system. <br /><br />“Students’ union of colleges like Lady Shri Ram (LSR), Kamla Nehru, St Stephens, Dyal Singh and Deshbandhu put forth grievance of students and talked about the vice-chancellor’s refusal to address them,” said Amar Deo Sharma, president DUTA.<br /><br />Research scholars who used to have a union, Delhi University Researchers Association (DURA), which is defunct since the last seven years, also joined the cause.<br /><br />“Sportspersons in colleges are not allowed to use the renovated facilities and are being asked to pay a fee to use the sports complex. The DU authorities are making it difficult for students to participate in festivals and all India competitions,” said Sharma. <br /><br />He added, “The practice of not allowing any leverage in attendance and internal assessment has been followed so far.”<br /><br />According to Sharma, the students also complained about the syllabus taking a toll on them since the inception of the semester system.<br /><br />It is being taught in a hurried manner which is affecting the learning process of the students.<br /><br />DUTA will hold a peaceful protest at University Grants Commission (UGC) on February 24 in which the students’ union members will also take part. It recently held four-day college wise protests to make students aware of the various University issues.</p>
