37-yr-old BSF constable dies in road accident

A 37-year-old BSF personnel was killed after his bike was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Mahipalpur flyover in south Delhi during the wee hours of Wednesday, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Dhiren Kalita, a resident of Najafgarh and who hails from West Bengal’s south Dinajpur district, was constable in Border Security Force.

“We had received a call at police control room around 2 am, reporting that a bike rider had met with an accident near the flyover. The deceased was travelling towards Gurgaon on National Highway 8,” a senior police official said. When police reached the spot, they found Dhiren unconscious and lying in pool of blood.

“Dhiren was rushed to AIIMS, where doctors declared him brought dead,” the official added.

A case has been registered under charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence against unidentified person at Vasant Kunj (north) police station.

“We have not yet got any eyewitness of the incident. We quizzed the person who made a call but he said he saw the victim lying in pool of blood and thus made a call to inform us,” said the officer.

According to police, he was injured in the head so seriously that blood loss could not be stopped.
