Plantation drive in Delhi

"This drive is part of a plan to plant 50,000 trees till March 2010 to add to the green cover of the national capital," Dikshit, who planted select saplings in a park area of 4.5 acres at Bawana, said.

She said, "planting of more trees and plants will help in the beautification of the city besides improving air quality. It will also bring rains".
Union Minister Krishna Tirath, Delhi minister Haroon Yousuf, besides local MLA Surendra Kumar were also present at the function organised by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (DSIIDC) and planted trees.

DSIIDC MD Chetan Sanghi said about 30,000 trees have been planted this season.
