Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s supporters are organising a birthday bash for their leader on February 27.

Hours after Yeddyurappa was snubbed by the central leadership for his bid to regain the chief minister’s post, the Lingayat strongman’s supporters met to work out the modalities for the birthday bash.

Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai told reporters that the birthday celebrations would be held at Thotadappa Choultry near the City Railway Station at 10.30 am.
The same evening, a tea party has been organised for the party legislators and MPs at Yeddyurappa’s Race Course Road residence.

Yeddyurappa had organised a luncheon meeting for supporters on Thursday. However, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and K S Eshwarappa faction in the BJP scuttled the plans of Yeddyurappa by attending the meeting.

Yeddyurappa’s supporters will then meet late on Monday to decide their future course of action.

The supporters have been prevailing on Yeddyurappa to attend the core committee meeting, convened by party national president Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on March 3.

Even at that meeting, no position may be offered to Yeddyurappa except asking him to work for the party candidate in the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by-election.

The former chief minister’s loyalists are planning to take a delegation to the national capital to showcase their support to Yeddyurappa before the party’s central leadership.

Plans had been chalked out to move legislators supporting Yeddyurappa to a resort on the outskirts of Bangalore on Friday, but were dropped at the last minute.
