Two persons have been arrested for involvement in the abduction and killing of a property dealer in Karawal Nagar area of north east Delhi in 2010, police said on Sunday.

Harinder Singh alias Rinku and Vikash Singh alias Vicky had killed Ajay after they found out that he used to give inputs about their gang’s movements to the police, said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (south).

Ajay had gone missing on May 26, 2010, and his body was recovered on May 31, 2010, from a dried well in Kulli Bhatona village in Uttar Pradesh.

A case was later lodged at Karawal Nagar police station on a complaint by Ajay’s mother Laxmi.

“Our initial investigation found that Ajay was an informer and was infamous between members of a gang involved in robberies. The intelligence was further developed and it was confirmed that those gang members had conspired to eliminate him,” Sharma said.

The police then detained Rinku and Vicky from Karawal Nagar on Sunday morning on a tip-off. When interrogated they revealed that along with Upender, a resident of Modi Nagar, and Vinod, of Karawal Nagar, had abducted Ajay in their Maruti Alto car.

“They later strangulated him and dumped the body in a well in Uttar Pradesh,” Sharma added.
