Fashionably intelligent

If you think technical writers can gather only for a serious discussion on some complex issues, then you are mistaken. At Vivanta by Taj recently, technical writers from different software companies assembled to display their sense of style at a fashion show. Called ‘Beauty With Brains’, the event was organised by Technical Writers of India (TWIN) and Tekom as a part of their ‘TC World Indian Conference’.

TWIN is the single largest forum for technical communicators in India whereas Tekom is a major society of technical authors in Europe. The models were none other than the techies themselves. The theme of the event was Indian ethnic wear. Despite coming from an entirely different background, the models scorched the ramp.

Explaining the purpose of organising the fashion show for technical writers, Gururaj BS, the main organiser of the show, said, “The sole purpose behind organising the event was to unite all the technical writers and take a break from our usual boring life.”

As the models sashayed down the ramp, the audience was mesmerised at their confidence and looks. The crowd cheered them every time they set the ramp on fire.

In all, 14 models participated in the fashion show. The female models dazzled in a sharara while the male models looked handsome in a ‘sherwani’.

Isabella Fluery of Tekom said, “Unlike we Europeans, who mostly don dull colours, Indians always wear bright colours. People here like to wear contrasting shades which is a treat to the eyes.” She remained glued to her seat throughout the show.

The technical writers, who otherwise are in a formal attire, had a good change because of the fashion show.

All of them enjoyed the evening as there were performances in between each round of the fashion show.
