Student projects at NITK from Sept 4

 
According to a press release,  in commemoration of 50 years of glorious existence in the field of technical education, NITK is celebrating its golden jubilee during August 2009 to August 2010. As part of the celebrations, a large number of technical events showing the talent of human resources and state-of-the-art facilities will be held. The 32nd series seminar-cum-exhibition of KSCST will be a mega event during the year long celebrations.

Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj will inaugurate the seminar-cum-exhibition of student project programme and will release the SPP compendium. Minister for Science and Technology and Fisheries Anand Vasant Asnotikar will preside. Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa will be the guest of honour.

The valedictory programme of this seminar-cum-exhibition will be held on September 5 at 3 pm at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. Coastal Development Authority Chairman B Nagaraj Shetty chief guest and  Visvesvaraya Technological University Vice Chancellor Prof H P Khincha will be the guest of honour and will be delivering valedictory address. NITK Director Prof Sandeep Sancheti will preside.

During these two days, seminars and exhibition of selected projects will be held. In this 32nd series of SPP, 69 and 77 projects, from various engineering disciplines, have been selected for seminar and exhibition respectively. These seminars and exhibits are evaluated by a panel of experts consisting of scientists and engineers from Indian Institute of Science and other research organisations. Some of these selected projects are awarded and the best performing college is also awarded. The awards are presented during valedictory function.

In addition, technical lectures, by eminent scientists, have also been arranged during the course of this programme. The focus of the seminar / exhibition is not only to provide the forum for the students to present their work, but also to educate themselves on current developments in the field of engineering and technology.

Open House

The National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, is also organising Open house on September 5 and 6. The event is being organised for the benefit of the general public, school children and college students. Laboratories and other facilities will be kept open between 9 am and 5 pm for public viewing on these days.

Equipment, machinery and working models will be on display in all the departments of the Institute. The open house will provide an opportunity for the outside world to view state-of-the-art equipment and also appreciate the quality of research and development activities being carried out by faculty and students of NITK.
