2 yr jail term for rtd MCC official

A special court sentenced T Channakeshava, a retired Executive Engineer, Mysore City Corporation to two years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 13.5 lakh for amassing wealth inappropriate to his sources of income.

Former Lokayukta Dy SP T M Narasimhamurthy had registered a case against Channakeshava. Dy SP M S Patel had filed the chargesheet with the court. Special prosecutor Vrushabendra argued the case.

Wife killer gets lifer
Second Additional District and Sessions Court Judge S Y Eerannavar sentenced a person to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 for killing his wife.

Venkatesh, son of Shivaiah is the convicted. Venkatesh had demanded Chandramma to bring dowry from her parents. When she refused to heed , he mixed poison in coffee and gave her.

Chandramma took ill and was admitted to K R Hospital on May 6, 2010. She passed away on May 10. Hunsur rural police had registered a case based on a complaint by Kariyaya, father of Chandramma. Second additional public prosecutor K Govindaraju argued the case.
