An aesthetic makeover is every woman’s dream come true, and for many it’s a rare opportunity. But imagine having a whole subject in your study curriculum devoted to just that?
The Flying Cats Airhostess Training School, on M G Road, had day-long grooming workshop held by Keune – The Academy. The session was taken by Esther Kinder, the technical educator for make-up. For all wannabe airhostess it was a practical session on transformation from ‘plane Janes’ to ‘princesses’.
The session took off with a brief overview on the nature of skin, and the types, and a basic analysis on what could be your skin type. A model among the students was chosen to demonstrate the finer nuances of make-up. A lot of make-up products were introduced, and students were advised to choose the right products for a healthy skin in the long term. “Always use products that are non-cosmogonic and are meant for sensitive skin, no matter what your skin type is,” said Esther emphatically. The session further unfolded into basics of skin care, cleansing, toning and moisturising, advising students to use either oil-based or water-based moisturiser depending on the skin type. Then came the practical make-up application session. “When you wear good make-up, and good clothes, you wear your confidence and attitude,” said Esther, to the eager students.
The make-up demonstrations began with the use of a concealer to conceal blemishes. “We use a green concealer to conceal blemishes or rash that are reddish in colour, and a yellow tone concealer if they are black; blend them into the area, and touch it up with finishing powder,” she said.
The foundation was applied later. “Now your face is ready for any kind of make-up. As future airhostess, it’s important to know these techniques that will allow you to look groomed even at three am in the morning,’’ she said.
The session ended with a lot of information and facts on hair care and skin care. For the students, the makeover dream is now a reality.
