Last Updated 04 March 2012, 18:54 IST

A delegation of State Congress leaders on Sunday met Governor H R Bhardwaj and requested him to direct the chief minister to drop Forest Minister C P Yogeeshwara from the Cabinet.

KPCC President G Parameshwara told reporters after the meeting that Yogeeshwara had no right to continue in office following the Serious Fraud Investigation Office of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs filing seven separate charge sheets against the minister for alleged fraud by his Megacity Developers and Builders Ltd.

“Yogeeshwara should have resigned the moment the charge sheets were filed against him.

The chief minister should now drop him from the Cabinet,” he said. The charges against Yogeeshwara include siphoning off Rs 37 crore from the company and cheating thousands of people who had paid money for sites in the company’s Vajragiri Township project.
