“I like Indian music, dance and culture. Gruel and chutney, masala dosa and ‘pundi’ of coastal district are my favourite food,” said Cecilia, a management student of Gothenburg university in Sweden.

Cecilia was serving as teacher for the last four months in Sneha Educational Institute in Sullia, as part of her study and is all set to go back to her home country with basket full of sweet memories from Sullia.

At an interaction programme, she said “I came to India for study purpose. I have been visiting various countries for study since I was 15. I have already visited Cuba, Panama, Jamaica, Thailand, and Europe and so on and have made a study on the culture of other countries.”

“I liked teaching profession. I have been teaching in a school for the last four months. In fact, she has learnt a Kannada song and sang it before a huge audience during Vidyarthi Kannada Sahithya Sammelan held at Sneha School two months ago.” She says that her father is a high school teacher and mother is a primary school teacher. She has two sisters and a brother. She says “the quality of education in Sweden is much better than India.

In Sweden more preference is given for communication. Instead of imparting education inside the four walls of a classroom, priority is given for practical oriented education in Sweden. However, the study of mother tongue is mandatory in Sweden. The medium of education upto 12th standard is Swedish. However, one is given an option to learn English from third standard. The medium of education for post graduation is English.” She said education and health is free in Sweden.

“In Sullia, I attended all most all the cultural programmes. The diversity of culture in India is very nice and colourful,” she added.
