The officials of the DK Halli Gram Panchayat demolished the encroachments in BEML Nagar, under tight police security on Thursday.
The 30-ft road in front of the HP in BEML Nagar was encroached by 10 feet by the owners of a private layout. The park and playground in the area too were encroached by culprits.
The residents of the Bharat Nagar, M V Nagar and other layouts in the area had submitted many memoranda to the district administration to clear the encroachments.
The officials cleared the encroachments in survey no 1, widening the road back to 30-ft in BEML Nagar. They also cleared unlicensed structures on the park and the playground in the area.
The officials have already cleared encroachments on 40-ft main road in Bharat Nagar. A similar drive will be launched in other layouts to clear the encroachments, said Narayanamma.
Tahsildar Mangala, Taluk Panchayat EO Srinivas, CMC member Shivaprasad Naidu, Circle Inspector Puttamadaiah, GP members Mohan, Dasharatan, Lakshmikumar, PDO Manjunath and Secretary Muniyappa were present on the occasion.
