Talamaddale Sapthaha in Udupi from May 17 to 24


Speaking to the media here on Monday, Yakshagana Kalaranga Secretary Murali Kadekar informed that the talamaddale week will be inaugurated by Putthige Seer Sugunendratheertha Sripada. Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Sahithya Parishad President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura will release a volume on talamaddale studies and the collection of articles on talamaddale “Vachika” on the occasion, he said. As many as 400 “arthadarigalu” of the Yakshagana are expected to take part in the convention. A debate followed by interactive session on essay “thalamaddale neerikshe” will be held at the sammelan. A programme on “Shreni arthavaibhav” will be organised on the concluding day. Veteran arthadhari Dr M Prabhakar Joshi from Mangalore will be honoured with “Matti Muralidhar” award on the occasion. Arthadhari Ashok Rao will release a souvenir on the day. “Yugala Samvada” will be held on the occasion, Kadekar informed.

Thalamaddale based on “Sri Krishna Charitha” will be performed on all eight days of sapthaha. “Kamasa Vadhe”, “Panchajanya,” “Rukhmini Kalyana,” “Parijatha-Narakasura Vadhe,” “Garuda Garvabhanga,” “Magadha Vadhe,” “Geethopadesha-Sharashayye,” “Adinarayana Darshana” are the thalamaddales to be presented at the sapthaha. More than 50 arthadharis and 4 each backdrop singers from both Badagathittu and Tenkathittu Yakshagana will take part in these eight Thalamaddale.

Yakshagana Kalaranga President Thallur Shivaram Shetty, Vice President S V Bhat, Joint Secretary Narayana M Hegde and others were present.
