BMRCL to continue work on Rly land

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation has decided to continue work on the Platform Road area until it receives a formal communication from the General Manager, South Western Railways (SWR) in response to the Chief Secretary’s letter.

According to a BMRCL press release, the Chief Secretary has asked the SWR to permit the BMRCL to continue work on the Railway land as the issue of the fees to be paid to the SWR may take some time to be resolved at the level of the Cabinet Secretary, Government of India.

The BMRCL had  threatened to stop work on the Railway land indefinitely if it did not receive permission from the SWR to continue work by March 13. 

The Bangalore Division of SWR had issued a notice to BMRCL to pay an additional amount of Rs.

125.702 crore towards the acquisition before commencement of work on the Railway land and that “the Metro work at Platform Road may be stopped if BMRCL is not ready to pay the said amount.”
