MP serves privilege notice on Kejriwal

Last Updated 17 March 2012, 18:56 IST

Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal has run into a fresh trouble with a Lok Sabha member moving a notice of question of privilege against him for allegedly making “derogatory, defamatory and indecent” remarks about the Members of Parliament.

Forwarding the notice moved by MP Sajjan Singh Verma against the activist on March 12, the Lower House has asked him to state what he has to say on the allegations leveled against him “at the earliest” for the consideration of the matter by Speaker Meira Kumar.

Kejriwal, while addressing a public gathering in Greater Noida recently, had described MPs as “robbers, rapist and murderers”. He also urged the Speaker to punish Kejriwal “severely” for breeching parliamentary privilege in accordance with the provisions so that “no one plays with the dignity of parliament and its members in future.”
