<p>MLA M P Appacchu Ranjan was given a cordial welcome by the residents of SC colony at Chikkabhandara in Besur gram panchayat on Monday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>He stayed in the house of colony resident Dharmaiah during his visit.<br /> <br />He was taken out in a procession to Kannambadi temple where he offered special pooja. <br />He laid foundation for Amebdkar Bhavan in the colony. The MLA was entertained by the residents with folk dance, ‘sobane pada,’ ‘kolata,’ ‘Suggi kunitha,’ ‘Devara kunitha’ and ‘Huliyata.’<br /><br />The residents brought the issue of lack of water, electricity to the notice of the MLA. <br /><br />Speaking to the residents, he said that the government has released Rs 98 lakh for the integrated development of Chikkabandara. A sum of Rs 23 lakh has been released by the Cauvery Neeravari Nigama for Kodlipete, Byadagotta, Besur Gram Panchayats. The funds will be utilised for providing drinking water and taking up UGD work. <br /><br />The residents were in a joyous mood over village stay by the MLA. <br /><br />Residents Jayamma, Thangyamma, Javaramma, Gowramma said “we are suffering from severe shortage of drinking water. The roads in the colony are unmotorable. All the households do not have toilets and electricity connections. The MLA’s visit would be meaningful only when all these problems are solved.” <br /><br />Taluk Panchayat President V K Lokeshm Vice-President Nethravathi Erappa, and others were present. <br /></p>
