The gullible consumers (complaint nos: 1080,1081 and 1079 of 2009) paid up Rs  1.15 lakh and were promised free sites at Coconut Grove, Tumkur. But they neither got the sites nor their money back. Country Club told the III Forum that the complainants did not pay up stamp duty and registration charges and hence did not get the sites. But the Forum President N Srivathsa Kedilaya ruled that if the sites were free why should the consumers pay stamp duty or registration fee? The opposite parties were not fair in their dealings and were guilty of deficient service. He ordered them to pay back all the money paid by them along with Rs. 10,000 as compensation to each of them.
Consumer loses: S N G  Shankar had complained to this forum against Hindustan Unilever Ltd. claiming that it was dealing in unfair trade practice with its differing prices while selling Surf Excel Blue. But the company proved that it was not dealing in unfair trade practice while the consumer was not able to prove his claims. The forum dismissed his complaint.

University: A student, Clifton Robin John, completed his Masters in Business Management and got a first class at Rai University Kochi, Kerala in 2004. Then he was transferred to Rai Foundation Bangalore where he finished another course in 2006. But he is yet to get his certificate from this foundation. He complained to this forum which has ordered Rai Foundation to return all the fees he had paid when they had enticed him with a brochure which misled him. The court also awarded rs. 20,000 as costs to the student.
Shocking mixer grinder: Y. Renuka shop owner was misled by one Ravikumar whose sales person came to her shop and coaxed her to order a solar water heater for which she would get a free mixer grinder of Videocon. But the mixer grinder was neither made by Videocon nor was it functional. It gave shocks when used, and money was collected under false pretences from Renuka.

She asked for her money back but the cheque given by the cheaters bounced. She complained to this forum which has ordered them to return her money with Rs. 5000 as compensation.
