Act aims to improve administration

In view of the Citizens Rights Guarantee Act-2011 coming into force from April 2 in all the districts of the state, a workshop was held for the general public, representatives of various associations and mediapersons to provide necessary information on the Act at ZP auditorium in Hassan on Wednesday.

ZP president B R Sathyanarayana inaugurated the programme. Addressing the participants of the workshop, he   opined that the implementation of the Act plays an important role in securing the democratic rights for the people of the state.

The Act guarantees that those who seek various services from the government are provided the necessary service within a stipulated period of time. This would help in betterment of administration in all districts.

Powerful weapon

Zilla panchayat chief executive officer S T Anjankumar said, the act is a powerful weapon for the ordinary citizen.

Explaining the importance, he said public should be aware  of the benefits of the Act. He said it would help an ordinary person to make the most of the Act.

Stipulated time limit

Addressing the officials, the reminded them that they should respond to the queries of the people and provide services within the time limit. Failing to respond to the queries of the public, would lead to imposition of penalty.

With Sakaal coming into effect from April 2, it provides 151 types of services through 11 departments, he added.

Joint director of Information department B R Mamatha and resource person Y G Muralidharan provided necessary information to the participants of the workshop.

ZP vice-president Sulochana Ramakrishna and officials of various departments and representatives of various organisations participated in the workshop.

Later, resource persons responded to the queries posed by the public over the issue.
