Prof B V Krishnappa, who was suspended as principal of the Government First Grade College, has been reinstated.

Krishnappa was suspended on the charge of attempting to shield a candidate who was caught copying in an examination conducted by Karnataka Public Service Commission in 2011. The examination was conducted for selection of first grade assistants.

He was reinstated on Thursday, following orders by the State government revoking his suspension.

Krishnappa was suspended on the orders of U B Ulavi, secretary in-charge of the Department of College Education. Rahmatullah, the professor of sericulture and K N Ramaswamy, first grade assistant of the College were also suspended.

Strict action has apparently been taken against the guilty, under the Karnataka Public Service (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules 1957, Rule 10 (1).

The accused were asked not to leave the headquarters without written permission from the recruiting authority.
