This time the punishment is for the murder of Nagaveni on December 18, 2007.<br /><br /><div>Mallika was the prime accused in nine murder cases across Bangalore City and Rural police jurisdiction. </div><div> </div><div>A resident of Badakatte in Kaggalipura hobli on Kanakapura Main Road, Mallika had allegedly poisoned six women with cyanide over eight years till her arrest in 2007. She had purchased cyanide for Rs 200 from a gold polishing shop on Old Kasai Road in Medarpet in the City. The quantity of cyanide she purchased was enough to put to death at least 2,000 people, it was claimed. <br /><br /></div><div>Investigating Officer S K Umesh said Mallika hung around temples and cheated gullible women devotees. Mallika had picked up Nagaveni of Hebbal at Ghati Subramanya temple in Tumkur and murdered her later. <br /><br /></div><div>She committed four murders in a span of eight days across Bangalore Rural, Tumkur and Mandya districts. <br /><br /></div><div>Mallika – alias Lakshmi, Savithramma, Kempamma, Jayamma, Kala and Shivamoggamma – had deserted her family nearly a decade ago. </div><div><br /></div></div>
