The Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has published an advertisement depicting Chief Minister Narendra Modi as Lord Krishna.

The advertisement appeared in some vernacular dailies ahead of the Kisan Yatra, which is being taken out from Rajkot by Bharatiya Janata Party president R C Faldu.  The endeavour aims at creating  awareness among farmers in the Saurasthra region about adopting scientific ways to improve quality and quantity of agriculture products.

The advertisement depicts Modi as Lord Krishna, while Faldu has been shown as Arjun.
Senior party leaders Vijay Rupani, Purushottam Rupala, I K Jadeja and Mansukh Mandaviya have been shown as the other four Pandavas. The advertisement reads:  “O Partha, for getting justice for those who hermit like agriculturists, who toil day and night for the happiness of all the beings of the world, war is the only way now.”

In January, Modi was compared to Swami Vivekananda in an advertisement. “From Narendra (Vivekananda) to Narendra (Modi) it’s a river of saffron colour, of which Narendra (Vivekananda) is on one bank and Narendra (Modi) is on the other. Let us all soak in the great flow of nationalism and commitment of nation building lowing between the two banks,” the advertisement said.

Reacting to the advertisement, Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modvadia said it was an insult to Hindu sentiments.

“Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party should apologise to the Hindus for hurting their religious sentiments,” he demanded.
